For 25 years, a series of assassinations of religious and civil personalities punctuates the life of the country and in the headlines. None of these crimes is so far unclear. On October 25, 1988, Father Joseph Mbassi, director of The Cameroonian Effort, Catholic newspaper, was found murdered in his home in Yaounde. Nothing was stolen. On October 30, 1988, Me Ngongo Ottou, successful lawyer, near the Catholic clergy was attacked at his home in Yaounde. Sporting highly trained, he defends himself and drives away his attackers, but he seriously injured was taken to Paris where he died on November 13.
